The calendar has not turned to July yet, but we’ve reached the domino effect following the Arch Manning commitment to Texas. Prospects all over the country are announcing their future destinations, and a key Kentucky target has found a new home.

On Thursday, Melbourne (Fla.) Eau Gallie cornerback Robert Stafford decided to stay in the Sunshine State and committed to Miami.

Mario Cristobal and his staff are starting to build some big momentum in their first full recruiting class at Miami. After receiving commitments from top-50 quarterback Jaden Rashada and top-150 receiver Nathaniel Joseph this week, the Hurricanes have added to it by adding Stafford to give the class four top-200 commits.

Robert Stafford is the No. 157 prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. A top-20 cornerback in this recruiting cycle, the high four-star prospect picked Miami over Arkansas, Kentucky, and Oregon after taking an official visit to all four schools during the June recruiting period.

Where does Kentucky go next?

Robert Stafford appears to be the highest-rated cornerback prospect on Kentucky’s board in the On3 Consensus, but there are still many quality options available. A big one is scheduled to announce his commitment on Sunday.

Bowling Green (Ky.) South Warren defensive back Cristian Conyer is a three-star prospect who is down to Kentucky and Tennessee after taking multiple visits to both Knoxville and Lexington over the last couple of months. Vince Marrow is working on scoring a big commitment for the Wildcats in an SEC recruiting battle.

On Wednesday, former Louisville (Ky.) Male cornerback Jeremiah Collins announced a decommitment from Louisville. Kentucky has been recruiting the prospect for awhile, and the 2023 recruit just moved to Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Oakland. Keep this name on the radar.

Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola cornerback Ja’Keem Jackson is a top-250 recruit and just announced a top-six with Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Penn State, and Tennessee battling here. Jackson took official visits to Auburn, Penn State, and Tennessee in June but made time for a two-day unofficial visit to Kentucky that month. Secondary coach Chris Collins has the Wildcats in contention.

Kentucky is attempting to upgrade at the cornerback position, and that is done through recruiting. There are still some high-quality targets available. We’ll see if a big recruiting win can be recorded on Sunday.
