rondo_usa Rajon Rondo survived the latest round of cuts to the USA basketball roster, which was trimmed to 13 before today's exhibition against the emobiment of evil, France. John Wall's summer league running partner JaVale McGee and Oklahoma City's Jeff Green were the casualties of Coach K's sword, as they will no longer be part of the USA squad. There will still be one more player cut to get the roster to the final 12, but all 13 of the finalists will travel to the team's next training destination in Madrid, Spain next week. Rondo is competing with Chauncey Billups, Steph Curry and Derrick Rose for point guard duties when the team plays in the FIBA world championships starting August 28th. Rondo played well in yesterday's exhibition against China, tallying seven assists, and one would think he stands a solid chance to make the team. That is, if Coach K isn't still holding a grudge from Tayshaun not giving him his gold medal.
