Rondo suspended one game for referee bump

The ruling has come down on the Rajon Rondo situation, and the league announced that Rondo will be suspended for Game 2 of Boston's series against the Hawks. Boston was considered the favorite against Atlanta heading into the series, but after losing the first game and facing the next one with a shorthanded lineup it will be an uphill battle for them the rest of the way. Considering they're the only team left in the East that can give the Heat a series, that's bad news. Some people, including Rondo, have argued that he tripped and accidentally fell into referee Marc Davis as a result. Whether that's true or not, and it looks like it's not, there was no way the NBA would let Rondo slide after he already faced discipline for a run-in with an official earlier this season. He might have been able to get away with a slap on the wrist if his record was squeaky clean, but after throwing the ball at a ref in February it was inevitable this would result in him missing time, and it's hard to argue that he doesn't deserve it. With Ray Allen doubtful for game two with an ankle injury, the Celtics will probably be trying to even the series tomorrow night without their starting backcourt, or face a two-game hole before the series gets to Boston. There are better situations to be in.
