Kentucky is in the middle of hosting multiple offensive line prospects on their official visits this weekend, but one of the biggest targets on their board is beginning the ending stages of his recruitment.

Ryan Baer is a borderline four-star prospect out of Metro Cleveland that Kentucky had on campus for his official visit last weekend. Shortly afterward, Baer announced that his official visit to Notre Dame scheduled for this weekend is off the table. Now Baer has released his top five in preparation for his July announcement.

According to John Kampf of The News-Herald, Baer has whittled his list down to five schools: Pittsburgh, Illinois, Virginia, Michigan State, and Kentucky.

“I didn’t feel like Notre Dame was a top option,” Baer told The News-Herald. “They were more of a Plan B. The five I’ve visited, those are my strong top five. I’m going to sit down with my family and hope to get this decision made in July.”

Baer has one official visit remaining, but will likely not take it before making his decision. The 6-foot-7 offensive tackle went to Ohio State on an unofficial visit at the beginning of June but left Columbus without the Buckeyes offering. Meanwhile, the trip to Pittsburgh was also unofficial.

Baer spoke with KSR’s Zack Geoghegan following his official trip to Lexington and loves the vibe around the Kentucky football program.

“It’s family down there,” Baer told KSR. “All the players are super close with each other. The coaches are all–a ton of their coaches are from Youngstown, Ohio, so they all have a similar background. It’s just a real family down there. In my opinion, I feel like the place you want to go is the place that you feel the most comfortable with. If you don’t feel comfortable with where you’re at, you’re not going to perform well. I wanna go to a place where I feel welcome, where I’m not just another player.”

While in Lexington, the Wildcats rolled out the red carpet with four-star commit Kiyaunta Goodwin in town to go along with face time with Miami Dolphins wide receiver Lynn Bowden Jr. and preseason All-American Darian Kinnard. As we stand right now, Kentucky in great shape with Vince Marrow running point and Eric Wolford helping close on the talented offensive line player.

Kentucky needs to continue to address offensive tackle in the class of 2022, and Baer remains one of the top options as his decision approaches.
