[caption id="attachment_357652" align="alignnone" width="1511"] @RyanBaer2003[/caption] It looks like Kentucky is losing momentum for one of the Midwest's top talents in the trenches. Ryan Baer is a four-star recruit, ranked by Rivals as the No. 31 offensive tackle in the country. A 6-foot-7, 330-pounder from the Cleveland suburb of Eastlake, Baer completed four official visits in the month of June to prepare for a July decision. The Wildcats were once in the driver's seat, but now Michigan State is surging. Wednesday morning three Michigan State insiders for 247 Sports (each with over a 90% success rate) logged Crystal Ball picks for Baer to the Spartans. The selections come less than a week after three Rivals publishers made Michigan State FutureCast predictions for Baer. Folks close to the program believed Kentucky would ultimately be the choice after he officially visited June 18. Kiyaunta Goodwin was on campus for some of Baer's visit, providing a more personal pitch to a fellow fighter in the trenches. He also met Lynn Bowden on the trip and provided an exceptional review to KSR shortly after returning home. “He (Coach Wolford) was telling me what his plan is for me, the things they want to do these next years," he told KSR June 21. "Plus with the two commits they already have (Goodwin and Bingham), they’re trying to create the greatest offensive line class in this school’s history.” Days later Baer went north for an official visit to East Lansing. Shortly after that official visit, the top flight recruit canceled his official visit to Notre Dame, perceived to be UK's top competition at the time. Many outsiders believed that development spelled more good news for the Cats, but it may have actually been great news for Michigan State. To create the greatest offensive line class in school history, it requires bringing in a ton of talent. That might deter some from joining the fold when another school is ready to hand over playing time right away. There's still time for Vince Marrow and Eric Wolford to convince Baer to join the BBN, but the clock is ticking.
