sam-maxwell If there has been a season recently where UK's football players have been honored as much weekly as this year, then I must not have been paying attention.  Coming off of a crucial victory in Athens, linebacker Sam Maxwell was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week.  The most overlooked player on the UK defense (and possibly this season's best player) notched a career-best 11 tackles to go with his game-clinching interception.  Obviously, you can say that the Cats were again Fortunate to have #50 on their side. And, with all the excitement surrounding Saturday's win, there are a couple of other Monday morning football notes circulating around:  - The Cats' victory also signaled a return to some pollster love - although not a whole lot.  However, Kentucky was represented in both polls this week after receiving two AP votes and 1 point in the coaches poll, making them #36 and #41 overall.   - With the seventh victory already recorded and a possible second place SEC East finish in sight, the attention on possible bowl games intensifies.  With the major media outlets, it appears that UK fans could expect some familiar foes and destinations.  Stewart Mandel at picks the Cats to face the team that got this bowl streak going, Clemson, on New Year's Eve in Atlanta at the Chick-Fil-A Bowl.  ESPN's Mark Schlabach and Bruce Feldman both agree that the Cats will again land in Nashville at the Music City Bowl, facing either Boston College or Florida State (again).  - But, for those of you who, like me, are hoping high for a victory over Tennessee Saturday and a Outback Bowl appearance, why not help the cause and vote for the Cats here?  The ultimate decision probably resides with what happens on the field Saturday, but this can't hurt, right? - Finally, in case you missed it, you might as well watch this highlight packaged and save some face. After all, it's bad enough you spent all morning asking the guys at the office what they thought of Adam Lambert's performance at the AMA's:
