Saturday is upon us, and winter is almost here. Bunker down for the weekend with the top 10 things you need to know right now:

 

 Kentucky football predicted to finish fifth in SEC East

 

The Southeastern Conference released its preseason football predictions on Friday, selecting Alabama to win the 2017 SEC Championship. Kentucky — after finishing 2016 tied for second place in the SEC East — was picked fifth in the Eastern Division.

 

 Three Wildcats make 2017 Preseason Media Days All-SEC Team

 

SEC Media Days also concluded with the announcement of the preseason all-conference teams, featuring three Kentucky defensive players. Junior Denzil Ware was voted Defense Second-Team, while fellow juniors Jordan Jones and Mike Edwards were chosen for the Third-Team.

 

 Football recruiting continues into the weekend

 

Mark Stoops and his staff keep the Kentucky football recruiting cycle rolling, hosting one last weekend of summer camps. 2018 commits Darrian Kinnard, Marquan McCall, Alex Reigelsperger, DeAndre Square, Jarren Williams, and Quintin Wilson — as well as Stanley Garner, Bryan Hudson, Brayden Ingraham, Chandler Jones, Kristian Pechac, Blue Smith, Terez Traynor, Josh Washington, and Hayden Wolff — are each expected to be either in attendance or to publicly show support for the program.

 

Meanwhile, Kentucky is reported to have offered 13-year-old offensive lineman Kiyaunta Goodwin a scholarship. The rising eighth-grader out of Louisville, Ky. currently stands at 6-foot-6 and 350 pounds.

 

 Immanuel Quickley and Zion Williamson posted monster double-doubles at adidas Uprising Gauntlet Finale

 

2018 five-star targets Immanuel Quickley and Zion Williamson went head-to-head at the adidas Uprising Gauntlet Finale in front of the top college basketball coaching staffs in the nation on Friday. Led by 20 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists, and a block from Quickley, Team BBC defeated SC Supreme, 68-64. Williamson tallied a game-high 28 points, 16 rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and two steals in a losing effort.

 

Quickley, a heavy Kentucky lean, hinted at the possibility of playing alongside Williamson at the college level.

 

 

 Calipari targets two top players in class of 2019

 

Kentucky head coach John Calipari and his assistant Joel Justus sat courtside at an AAU contest between Charles Bassey and Matthew Hurt last Thursday. Bassey is the second-ranked player in the class of 2019, while Hurt is rated No. 3.

 DeMarcus Cousins will participate in second straight NBA Africa Game

 

The New Orleans Pelicans’ DeMarcus Cousins will represent the United States in the 2017 NBA Africa Game. Team World will take on Team Africa on August 5 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

 

 Selection Committee will place greater emphasis on road wins

 

The NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee has reconsidered its definition of a quality win, announced on Friday. A greater emphasis will be placed on teams’ road wins when being considered for the NCAA Tournament.

 

 Eric C. Conn was spotted in New Mexico

 

The FBI released images believed to be of fugitive attorney Eric C. Conn in two different New Mexico cities last month. The Kentucky native is alleged to have led one of the biggest Social Security frauds in U.S. history.

 

 Game of Thrones returns tomorrow
