Scotty Hopson....Still not Signed

scotty_hopson-797149.jpeg Lost in the hoopla about Chris Singleton, Billy Clyde's contract and Leonard Washington was the official news that Scotty Hopson did not sign a LOI for Mississippi State this weekend. Hopson had claimed all along that he was certain to sign the Letter, including as late as Monday night of last week. But then on Tuesday, he told Scout.com that he would not sign, a story that we reported here. Then later in the week, Hopson's mother told the Hopkinsville newspaper that yes, he would be signing....thus leaving none of us clear what would actually happen. But as they say, the truth will set you free and the truth is that no LOI was signed by Hopson this week. Hopson is a true talent. Ranked in the Top 10 by some services in the country, Hopson may be the best pure talent to come out of the state (he is from Hopkinsville) in a number of years. He can score with the best of them and is an athletic leaper that can be a difference maker on the next level. Kentucky likely is interested.....but now that it is back open, every school in the country will likely join them. I have enjoyed my conversations with Scotty over the years, but I cant claim to have any idea what he will do. But he is a story worth keeping in the background as the season moves on. Mississippi State is the school of choice for some in the Hopson camp, but is clear that camp didnt win this fall. Who will win this spring is anyone's guess.
