We're just 17 days away from Kentucky football's home opener against Kent State and tickets sales are still waayyyyy down. According to Jen Smith at The Herald-Leader, football season ticket sales are at 37,154, down 9,751 from this time last year and 14,660 fewer than 2009, when season ticket sales were at a record high. Ben Jones took it even further to find that student season ticket sales are down 58-percent from last year. Only 2,447 student season ticket packages have been sold, down 3,433 from this time in 2011. A month ago, UK spokesman DeWayne Peevy spoke on the decline of tickets sales. He said, “It’s a combination of the economy…performance on the field and the television package offering another option for fans... Last year’s season, not going to a bowl game, probably had some impact, but I’d say it’s not attributed only to that.” We. Are. UK.
