SEC Bulletin Board: A&M up top, G League jokes, buzzer-beaters, and stats watch
Everyone, come inside from the cold. Have a seat. It’s time for another SEC Bulletin Board. There’s a hot chocolate on the counter.
Today, we check back in on the rest of the Southeastern Conference before another wave of midweek games. Texas A&M leads the league with one loss to date. That’s a great start for the team picked 13th in the preseason predicted order of finish.
Behind them, it’s a pack of two and three-loss teams fighting to stay within a game of the Aggies.

What Saturday Taught Us
Saturday taught us that Alabama had no reservations about playing Charles Bediako, the former two-way player in the NBA and G League. Bediako checked in early and played 25 minutes, only for Alabama to lose at home to rival Tennessee. He had 13 points and three rebounds.
Down in Austin, the Longhorns held No. 21 Georgia under 70 points for the first time all season, winning 87-67. At the same time, No. 20 Arkansas survived a scare at home against LSU, and Todd Golden can win a national championship but can’t beat his good friend Steven Pearl. Vanderbilt broke out of its three-game losing streak, too.
Social Media Post of the Week: Tennessee trolls Alabama’s G League addition
Tennessee’s X account called out the Delaware Blue Coats, a G League team, after beating Alabama and Bediako. That’s some funny trash talking, even if the Blue Coats caught a stray shot. They replied with a meme.
Co-Plays of the Week: Mizzou beats the buzzer twice
Mark Mitchell‘s game-winner in Columbia was the first of two top plays from the SEC on Saturday. Down by two in overtime, the 6-9 senior caught the inbounds pass with 4.9 seconds, dribbled past halfcourt, and drained the lefty three-pointer over two outstretched Oklahoma defenders for the win.
However, Mitchell’s game-winner would not have been possible without the buzzer-beater in regulation. Down three, Mizzou’s Trent Pierce drained a 37-footer at the buzzer to tie the game. It’s the second Play of the Week from the same game.

SEC Players of the Week: Nate Ament and Keyshawn Hall
Tennessee freshman Nate Ament and Auburn senior Keyshawn Hall were named SEC Co-Players of the Week after big road performances. Ament scored a career-high 29 points in a win at No. 17 Alabama, with 18 coming in the second half, while Hall averaged 21.5 points in wins at Ole Miss and No. 16 Florida, including 22 first-half points in Auburn’s first win in Gainesville in 30 years.
Arkansas guard Darius Acuff Jr. earned SEC Freshman of the Week, averaging 24.0 points and 5.5 assists in wins over No. 15 Vanderbilt and LSU. He scored a career-high 31 points against LSU, with 24 coming after halftime. He is having an incredible season in Fayetteville.
The Other SEC Player of the Week
Texas guard Dailyn Swain is the Other SEC Player of the Week. Swain scored 29 points in the loss to Kentucky in Rupp Arena, then turned around and scored 26 points in the upset of No. 21 Georgia in Athens. He shot 22-of-32 from the field with six rebounds per game, adding five steals in the win over the Dawgs. That’s some high-level basketball in two SEC road environments.
Box Score Shenanigans
- Cats at the line: Kentucky made 30 of 35 free throws in the win over Texas, then 28 of 38 against Ole Miss. 58 points in two games at the line.
- Clemence went nuclear: Texas A&M’s 6-11 forward, Zach Clemence, went crazy from outside in a blowout win over South Carolina, hitting seven three-pointers with only one miss. All 21 of his points off the bench came from outside.
- Acuff’s takeover: Darius Acuff Jr. made 10 of 11 shots from the field in the second half against LSU. There was a stretch where Arkansas made nine consecutive shots, and he made six of them, including three from three-point range, and assisted on the other three.
- Duke’s defense: Vanderbilt guard Duke Miles locked down Mississippi State, notching a career-high seven steals in a win in Starkville.
- Auburn in Gainesville: The Tigers’ 76-67 win at Florida was Auburn’s first win at Florida since 1996. Keyshawn Hall scored 22 of his 24 points before halftime.
