The Southeastern Conference has already found a replacement for Mark Whitehead behind the men’s basketball’s officials coordinator’s desk. Whitehead resigned a couple of weeks ago and today the league announced Mike Eades as the heir apparent to Whitehead on the SEC officiating throne.
Eades served as an official for 24 years across several conferences. He called three Final Fours and fifteen games involving your University of Kentucky Wildcats, in which the Cats had an 11-4 record. He once T’d up Wenyen Gabriel, of all people, for shoving an Ole Miss player after a dunk.
The commish Greg Sankey said, “Mike Eades will bring nearly a quarter of a century of men’s basketball officiating experience and knowledge to the SEC’s officiating program. Mike has experienced success as an on-court official at the highest levels of college basketball and he has developed relationships during his career that will be beneficial in supporting the men’s basketball officiating program of the SEC.”
