Seth Davis decides to play nice for a change

Hunter Campbellalmost 11 years

seth-davis-author-photo You remember Seth Davis, right? The sort of silver-spoon, negative nancy, [insert other alliterative insult] guy on CBS college basketball broadcasts that appears to have no business talking about college basketball. Sure you do. Well, if your memory stretches all the way back to around this time last season, you'll recall that Davis picked South Carolina to hand Kentucky its first loss, a prediction that was directly and solely responsible for the Cats' falling in Columbia. Fast-forward to this year, and we find ourselves on the eve of another trip to the Palmetto State. And Seth Davis finds himself again making a prediction on the UK-USC game. Only this time, he decided to give us the benefit of his clairvoyance, as he picks the Cats to take care of business this time around:
No. 12 Kentucky (14-4, 2-2) at South Carolina (12-5, 3-1) So much attention was paid to John Calipari's profanity-laced tirade at Terrence Jones late in the Wildcats' loss to Alabama that few seemed to notice that Kentucky nearly won the game after being down by 20 points. You could see this young team's identity getting forged during that comeback as the 'Cats cranked up their D and attacked the rim instead of settling for jump shots. Even though South Carolina has been on a roll of late having won four of its last five games, I think these young Wildcats learned something in their loss in Tuscaloosa, and they'll be eager to prove they're growing up.
Davis is right that the Cats showed great resolve in battling back against Alabama and, had they pulled off the win, we'd probably all be talking about how the team showed various types of fortitude and made a big statement with the comeback. Instead, the Cats still must prove that they have the mental tools to get a road win in the SEC. They'll have that opportunity tomorrow, and it's one which Davis thinks they'll take advantage of in rolling the Gamecocks. And, for once, I agree with him. [Seth Davis' Weekend Picks]
