However, in his post today about how to improve the NBA Draft Evaluation Process he absolutely nails it and this should be implemented right away. First of all let me say this should all be about the players, not the coaches, universities, NCAA or yes, even us fans. The first thing that should be changed according to Davis is pushing back the deadline to withdraw from the NBA. He says it should be after the Draft, which is a crazy idea but should happen. Why not give a kid a chance to see if he can go in the second round and if he doesn't want to play in the D-League, come back for another year? Who is that hurting honestly? The 'integrity' of the game, which is so filled of hot air it's irrelevant? The second course of action is letting the kids play in competitive games in the summer. A lot of times pros will play in Pro-Ams where there is payment for winning, playing, etc. The NCAA can cap this according to Davis and still allow college guys to participate and truly match up against professionals. This is just another way to scout as an NBA executive and to prove your worth as a prospect. Again, no harm here. The final one is the craziest idea, which is allowing some formal interaction with agents, which will scare everyone off right away. But, Davis makes a good point by doing this it allows the players and their families a chance to truly hear the business side of the game can use it more as a learning chance than anything else. This would have to be closely monitored, which is possible, but the least likely to ever happen.
