In the overtime loss to Texas, Kentucky starting tailback Seth McGowan had to make a quick trip to the hospital before returning to the lineup. The former Oklahoma transfer made a key play in the game-tying two-minute drive in the fourth quarter after his return. However, that injury lingered.

The class of 2020 recruit with 1,669 career rushing yards was a game-time decision last week and ultimately was unable to go due to some grip issues. However, Kentucky expects him back in the lineup against Auburn for Saturday’s Week 10 tilt.

On “SEC Nation”, Tom Hart reported that McGowan “was limited throughout practice this weeek” but is expected to play in the game at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday. His return to the lineup could give the Wildcats a lift.

The multi-time transfer leads Kentucky in rushing yards (476), rushing attempts (93), and rushing touchdowns (seven). Seth McGowan has also chipped in 11 receptions for 94 yards. The former blue-chip recruit from Texas has gone over 100 yards from scrimmage three times this season. The Wildcats will have a tough time getting the run game established against Auburn’s stout run defense, but McGowan is a real threat in the passing game that Cutter Boley could look to target multiple times.

The return of McGowan could mean big things but how he holds up against contact could be something to watch early. Kentucky’s star player was removed from the availability report on Friday night. Meanwhile, Auburn star wideout Cam Coleman is reportedly dealing with a high ankle sprain injury but was also not on the most recent report. Hart reports that Coleman was limited in practice this week but will attempt to play on Saturday.

Both offenses are dealing with some big skill talent injuries. Each player is on track to play but their status will likely need to be monitored once the game begins tonight on the Plains.
