Shane Boyd shined in his first-time start with the Arizona Rattlers Saturday. The Rattlers defeated the Washington Shock 59-47 in Spokane. Before Saturday’s match up, the Rattlers had only beat the Shock at home once (2012).

The Rattlers’ came into the game tight in the quarterback slot after one quit the team and reigning MVP quarterback Nick Davita placed on the IR.

Boyd, who was recently reassigned to Arizona mid-season threw seven touchdown passes to four players and helped Arizona break a tie at 34 after three quarters, earning him Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Game.

Boyd played for the Cats from 2001 to 2005 when he was signed, and shortly let go by the Titans. With the Cats, he played in 36 games with 16 starts. He finished his collegiate career with 2,484 passing yards and 13 TD and gamed 845 rushing yards on 191 carries and 13 TDs. Boyd also played a small bit Kentucky Baseball as a pitcher in his early years.

If you missed the game (which I am 100% sure you did) and want to see the former Cat in action, the Rattlers’ next game will be next Saturday at 6 p.m. as they return home to face the Tampa Bay Storm (4-5). The game will be televised on FOX Sports Arizona, but streamed online at ESPN3.com or the WatchESPN App..
