Kroger KSR Game of the Week: Shelby County at Spencer County

The Kroger KSR Game of the Week is traveling to Taylorsville on Friday for the first round of the playoffs. Host team Spencer County is 9-1 on the season and 5-0 against 4A competition. The Bears sport an impressive winning margin of 24 points per outing. Spencer County is hosting 5-5 Shelby County. 

Spencer County has impressed in 2022. The Bears are coming off a 42-28 win over Henry County. Mike Marksbury’s offense is averaging 38 points per game. The Bears have been a force on the ground after running for 303 rush yards per contest. Three players have registered over 700 yards on the season. Wade Hutt is the team’s leading rusher with 882 yards and is followed by Camden Cardwell’s 862 and Kellen Marksbury with 722. That trio has combined for 34 touchdowns. The Bears’ defense is only giving up 13 points per outing and is paced by Nick Stowe’s 133 tackles including 6 for loss. 

Shelby County beat Anderson County 49-18 last Friday. Gianni Hunter leads the Rockets with 1,190 rush yards and 17 touchdowns. Carter White is the team’s top pass catcher with 15 receptions. Isaac Estrada is the Rockets’ leading tackler with 86 stops including 5 TFLs. Coach Marcus Harris will be trying to formulate an upset over the favored Bears.
