Shooting Should NOT Be a Problem for this Year's Team

briscoe-fts The consensus from the college basketball "experts" is that Kentucky will have an athletic, explosive team that can run the court well, but they'll struggle to shoot the ball from the outside. The players disagree.    De'Aaron Fox:
"They don't see what we've been doing this offseason.  I'm not worried about the shooting because I make outside shots.  Isaiah has really improved from last year to this year.  Malik makes outside shots.  Derek can hit the three.  Wenyen makes threes, Mike makes threes, Dom.  So I'm not really worried about the outside shooting this year."
Isaac Humphries:
"I think we're great shooters.  Yeah, I haven't seen any doubts.  People are doubting our shooting ability?"
I gave an affirmative response, he laughed, then said:
"Wow, I would never say that.  I think our shooting is fine," he chuckled.
Derek Willis:
"The thing that's been kinda put out there about us is that shooting is going to be an issue with us, and I don't think that at all.  Fox has been shooting the ball pretty good.  Malik obviously has a great mid-range.  He can knock down threes.  I can stretch the court.  Wenyen -- I feel like he shoots fine.  So I don't think that's an issue."
Dominique Hawkins:
"I guess we're going to have to prove it to the once we play."
Isaiah Briscoe:
"I don't have any worries.  I think we're fine.  Obviously we're going to get better, obviously we're need to get better.  It's still early, but I think we're fine."
Personally, Briscoe believes his confidence has dramatically improved since his freshman year.
"I think my confidence is getting high.  It's day-by-day, but I'm just excited to get better as a player."  He said he spent a lot of time in the gym. "Almost every night in here.  If it's with a coach, by myself, I've just been shooting."
Mark Story tried to gingerly ask him about last year's free throw struggles and he wasn't afraid to admit he was bad from behind the line, but now he's comfortable moving forward.
"It was a struggle, bro it's fine.  I don't know what happened, but last year is in the past and I'm just looking forward to a new year.
