During the slow and insipid summer of 2008, former KSR wordsmith Evan Hilbert profiled each and every member of the University of Kentucky football team. Though his knowledge was sparse and his research was far from thorough, Evan's short and insufficient player profiles were an integral part of Kentucky's success that season. UK finished with seven wins, including the opener at Louisville and a 25-19 victory in the Liberty Bowl. Kentucky hasn't won a bowl game since. Let's bring back that magic... -------------------------- #16 La'Rod King Vitals Height: 6'4'' Weight: 222 lbs. Class: Senior Experience: 3L Position: Wide receiver Hometown: Radcliff, KY High School: North Hardin 2012 Preseason Honors Second Team All-SEC coaches selection It's Spanish for... The rod. Something You Didn't Know About Him He was born in Wurzberg, Germany. Something We Made Up About Him La'Rod stayed with Dicky Lyons Jr. on his visit to Kentucky in the fall of 2008. The two received a noise complaint from a neighbor and barely escaped a citation while recording a freestyle mixtape in Dicky's home recording studio. The video footage can be found in UK's Daily Dicky archive. Items of Legitimate Interest King continued to show playmaking ability last season and will anchor UK’s wide receiver corps in 2012. King’s career totals include 86 receptions for 1,218 yards and 13 touchdowns. King led UK in 2011, making 40 catches for 598 yards and seven touchdowns, ranking him in the top 10 in the SEC in each category. The 6-foot-4 wide out had a pair of 100-yard games last season against Ole Miss and Central Michigan, while he made a career-high seven catches against Louisville and a personal-best two touchdowns against Jacksonville State. For his career, King ranks eighth in school history in touchdown receptions and 19th in program history in receiving yards. The Kentucky native has played in 36 career games with 18 starts. Unfair NFL Comparison A.J. Green, Cincinnati Bengals Because... they're both 6'4'' and from the SEC? Outlook for 2012 La'Rod is Kentucky's go-to receiver in the passing game and top offensive playmaker. Expect him to lead the team in catches and touchdown receptions. He's six touchdowns away from passing Derek Abney for third all-time at Kentucky.
