During the slow and insipid summer of 2008, former KSR wordsmith Evan Hilbert profiled each and every member of the University of Kentucky football team. Though his knowledge was sparse and his research was far from thorough, Evan's short and insufficient player profiles were an integral part of Kentucky's success that season. UK finished with seven wins, including the opener at Louisville and a 25-19 victory in the Liberty Bowl. Kentucky hasn't won a bowl game since. Let's bring back that magic... -------------------------- #69 Matt Smith Vitals Height: 6'4'' Weight: 296 lbs. Class: Senior Experience: 3L Position: Center Hometown: Louisville, KY High School: St. Xavier Preseason Honors Rimington Trophy Watch List Nickname "Dragon" UK Media Guide Quote When I played football as a kid, I pretended I was: "Skinny" Something You Didn't Know About Him Matt enjoys Cheddar's Casual Cafe and going to classic rock concerts with his dad. He also knows all the lyrics to "Air Force Ones." Something We Made Up About Him He never wears the same pair of underwear twice. (That's actually true.) Items of Legitimate Interest Smith came to Kentucky as a defensive tackle but he is entering his third season as starting center for the Wildcats. He missed the first two games of 2011 with a sprained ankle but returned to action against Louisville and started the final nine games of the season. He's played in a total of 25 games, including 22 starts. Unfair NFL Comparison Devin Hester, Chicago Bears Is that unfair enough? Outlook for 2012 He will remind Big Blue Nation that it was Matt Smith, not Anthony Davis, who throws the block parties in Lexington.
