Short and Insufficient Profile: Daryl Collins
During the slow and insipid summer of 2008, former KSR wordsmith Evan Hilbert profiled each and every member of the University of Kentucky football team. Though his knowledge was sparse and his research was far from thorough, Evan’s short and insufficient player profiles were an integral part of Kentucky’s success that season. UK finished with seven wins, including the opener at Louisville and a 25-19 victory in the Liberty Bowl. Kentucky hasn’t won a bowl game since. Let’s bring back that magic…

#23 DARYL COLLINS
Vitals
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 196 lbs.
Class: Freshman (RS)
Position: Wide Receiver
Hometown: Gadsden, Alabama
High School: Gadsden City
Nickname
“Dee”
Something You Didn’t Know About Him
If he could attend any non-football sporting event, it would be a softball game.
Something We Made Up About Him
He is the long-lost son of former UK running back, Sonny Collins.
Quote About The Louisville Game
“I ain’t got nothing to say, for real. They’ll just wait until Sept. 2 to see who the underdog is.”
Items of Legitimate Interest
Collins was ready to contribute at wide receiver as a freshman before going down to a season-ending knee injury prior to the 2011 opener.
Originally committed to Alabama but switched his commitment to Kentucky when Nick Saban told him he would grayshirt.
Unfair NFL Former Wildcat Comparison
Randall Cobb
Some say he’s Cobb 2.0.
Outlook for 2012
Collins is battling with Gene McCaskill for the starting job at one wide receiver position. He said last week that he wants to lead the team in receptions and take La’Rod King’s spot as the No. 1 guy. That’s no easy task, but I’m not saying he can’t do it.
