In the midst of Enes Kanter committing and the NCAA tournament, we've failed to give credit where credit was due. Brandon Knight is no stranger to awards, both athletic and academic, and this year was no different. Most recently, Knight won the Florida Dairy Farmer's Mr. Basketball award, which is that state's traditional Mr. Basketball award but I couldn't help but type out the "Dairy Farmer's" as well. (By the way, I will be thoroughly researching this award later to find out exactly how the dairy farmers of Florida edged out the mighty orange pickers for the award's title). Probably more important in the grand scheme of things, Knight repeated as Gatorade National Player of the year, joining a four person club that includes Candace Parker, Greg "Don't Call Me Big Enes" Oden, and the King himself, LeBron Raymone James. Knight also repeated the same feat in the state of Florida. Over his senior season, Knight averaged 31.9 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.5 steals. He also came in with something like a 5.9 GPA, which is exactly what I'm currently averaging in law school if anyone is hiring. So let's all join in giving congratulations where it is due, to Brandon, who was a prime example this year of the student-athlete both on and off the court.
