Some Morning Notes and Updates

Sunday marks the 4oth anniversary of one of the most memorable games in Southeastern Conference history. The No. 2 Kentucky Wildcats, under the tutelage of Adolph Rupp, visited the 9,000-seat John Parker Memorial Coliseum in Baton Rouge for an epic battle with the LSU Tigers. The game featured Dan Issel, the all-time leading scorer in UK history, and "Pistol" Pete Maravich, the most prolific scorer in the history of NCAA Division I basketball. The Wildcats managed to survive a 64 point performance by Maravich and escaped Baton Rouge with a 121-105 victory. Issel put in 51 points and pulled down 17 rebounds to lead the Cats. Another UK All-American, Mike Pratt, added 27 points. Some morning notes: - Congratulations to Kentucky recruit Brandon Knight, the top-rated player in the 2010 class, as he became the all-time leading scorer in Broward County, Florida basketball history. He now has 3,373, which surpasses Kenny Boynton (Florida Gators). Knight scored a game-high 27 points in a 67-37 victory Clewiston. - I have to give some love to the UK Hoops program. The No. 16 Cats destroyed Florida in the second half last night and rolled to a 77-51 victory. Keyla Snowden led the way for Kentucky with 21 points. And yes, DeMarcus Cousins did wear pink to support the UK women's Pink Zone event. - I know the separation of Tubby Smith and UK was likely the most positive outcome for both parties, but I want to give a quick shout out to the former Kentucky head coach.
