Something Positive on a So-So Day

tubby45.jpeg There are some things more important than basketball and thus on a day with some negative news, here is some uplifting news. Some of you may know Jim Leachman, a regular poster on the Cats Pause and one of the biggest UK fans around. He recently passed away, and this story from the Owensboro newspaper tells you more: By Suzi Bartholomy Messenger-Inquirer Julie Cantwell of Rineyville was with her granddad, Jimmie Davis Leachman, and the rest his family when he died Nov. 8. He had been ill and his death was not unexpected. Cantwell said that the morning of Leachman's last day, he was not talking, but a phone call from a former coach at the University of Kentucky rallied him for a short while. A friend of Leachman's, Ben Howard of Bowling Green, had called Tubby Smith's secretary and asked if Smith would give Leachman a call, Cantwell said. Not long after Howard's call, Smith called Leachman. After the phone call, Cantwell said Leachman sat up in bed and talked to his family. "That phone call was amazing," Cantwell said. Smith's phone call gave the family a little more time with Leachman. "What a good guy Tubby Smith must be," Cantwell said, for him to call someone he didn't even know. A very nice gesture for a man who was as big a UK fan as you will find.....
