Kentucky opened as a 24.5-point favorite against Mount St. Mary’s in Rupp Arena’s second game of the young 2021-22 basketball season. The spread is two points more than the closing line on Kentucky’s first home game against Robert Morris, a game the Wildcats won by 40 last Friday.

On the other side, Mount St. Mary’s is 0-2 against the spread this season after a 40-point loss at Villanova as a 25.5-point underdog, and then a 20-point loss as a 4.5-point underdog at Saint Josephs (PA). Those two previous outcomes may lead one to believe Kentucky is in good shape to cover tonight’s spread against The Mount.

One bettor is very confident, maybe even a little too confident (depending on their disposable income). Over at PointsBet Sportsbook, someone bet $220,000 on Kentucky to cover the 24.5 points. At -110 odds, the bet will win $200,000 for a $420,000 payout if Kentucky wins by 25 points or more.

Is this anonymous person crazy or wise with their money? As someone who holds a Kentucky -24.5 ticket myself (for way less money, I’ll note), I hope they know what they’re doing.

Go Cats.
