On Julius Mays... "Thank goodness he is on our team," Cal said of the importance of Mays' leadership.  Mays is able to teach, lead and guide the way Cal does as UK's coach, but is able to do it from another perspective, as a teammate.  Calipari said Mays made a statement to the team about what drives him to succeed. "I'm my mom's only son and I refuse to fail," Mays told his teammates. On Nerlens Noel... Cal said Nerlens Noel has a date set up for surgery, but he wasn't able to provide the exact date at Tuesday's press conference.  He did say Noel is in a great frame of mind heading into what will be a long and challenging road to recovery. He also mentioned that Noel's mother visited Lexington last weekend to check up on her baby boy. On the NCAA Tournament... Calipari believes Kentucky has the talent to advance in the NCAA Tournament, not just settle for a first round appearance. He mocked last week's media talk of "UK has to beat Missouri to get in" and how it is now "They beat Missouri but still have to prove themselves."  He mentioned that bell curve again. ---  Jarrod Polson said Calipari was all over the players in yesterday's practice to make sure they don't look past Mississippi State.  Because State is turrible. ---  Kentucky opened as an 18.5-point favorite versus Mississippi State.
