Sanders expects him to be able to play, but he will probably not be 100%. However Max was wearing a knee brace on his left leg, but that was shot down by Sanders saying, "He kind of got rolled up on a bit against Western; it's not an injured knee or anything like that. A lot of dropback passers have it on their left knee because it's more exposed." Even though they down played his shoulder, I'm sure that this is really just a precaution. ---Not only is South Carolina's defensive line one of the best and most athletic in the country, they also are extremely tall, with most players about 6'5 or 6'4. Max will have to put more air under the ball to keep passes from getting knocked down at the line of scrimmage. ---People may be wondering why they chose to use Jalen Whitlow instead of Pat Towles as the Freshman backup. For the coaching staff it came down to his ability to run the ball. Pat is mobile, but Whitlow provides more options when he is in the game. The more options the better, considering their limited knowledge of the playbook. ---Freshman CB Cody Quinn earned his first career start Saturday after the injury to Cartier Rice. His performance was the best by a freshman on defense thus far, and when Rick Minter was asked why he hadn't played until now, "I guess he just started playing better." Minter is hopeful that he will continue to contribute, giving Rice and Neloms much needed breaks. --- Taylor Wyndham has been playing well on the field, but looks better off it sporting a two month beard. He plans on keeping it through 'No Shave November' and eventually plans on having a better mustache than Alan Cutler.
