With the passing of Adolph Rupp Jr. yesterday in Lexington, John Calipari and Mitch Barnhart issued statements on what he meant to them and the University of Kentucky.

“Herky was a great supporter of not only our basketball program, but myself and my family,” John Calipari said of Herky Rupp, in a release from UK. “I loved being in his company. Herky always had great stories to tell and he would always set the record straight. He was immensely proud and honored that his father was one of the great coaches of all time. He’ll be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Herky’s family.”

Mitch Barnhart said, “We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Herky Rupp. Herky has been an important part of the UK family for decades and an invaluable supporter of our men’s basketball program. We offer our condolences and prayers to the Rupp family.”
