by:Jonathan Schuette08/16/13
Steve-Carell On this day in 1962, Steve Carell entered the world in Concord, Massachusetts destined to be one of this generation's funniest people. You've undoubtedly heard of Mr. Carell as it seems he's been featured in just about every comedic movie in the past 10 years. The 40-Year Old Virgin, Bruce Almighty, Anchorman, Crazy, Stupid, Love, and Dinner for Schmucks are just a few of the many movies he has starred in and he is set to appear in many more in the near future. He's perhaps best known for his role in the legendary television show, The Office, where he played odd-ball boss, Michael Scott. Many around the world have memories of Michael Scott or one of Carell's many other characters entertaining them through their televisions, but he has also done more in his life than entertain. He supports various charities around the nation and married in 1995 to a woman named Nancy Walls. The couple had two children - a son named Johnny and a daughter named Elisabeth Anne. So here's to you, Steve. May you have a happy birthday and may Anchorman 2 be as awesome as the first. An old favorite of mine: Even Stepvhen discussing medical marijuana.   On to today's news: -Mark Stoops wasn't satisfied with the effort he and his coaches received from the players in today's practice. After a few days of positive effort and performance, the Cats just didn't have it today according to Stoops.
Little bit of a disappointment today. Very poor day, to be honest with you. Very frustrated. Had to start certain segments over again. Just very weak mentally, physically. Just very average day. So very disappointed.,” Stoops told reporters, citing the team’s lack of focus and attention to detail for their “poor all around” performance. “We wasted the day. We wasted the morning. We’re not tough enough. …I believe we have good kids here, and they mean well, but we have to have some toughness to us, some fight about us, or we’re going to have a long year.
-Demarco Robinson was named one of the five "Hidden Gems" of the SEC today by Saturday Down South. Jon Cooper, the author of the article, had the following to say about Mr. Robinson.
Yes, a different Robinson than Florida has, with no relation to Demarcus. UK’s Robinson has a big potential playing in Neal Brown’s Air Raid offense. He stands to catch the most passes and become the Cats’ biggest threat as a pass catcher. He caught 28 passes in 2012, but that should double and then some. Robinson is a great looking player.
-In other news on the football front, Matt Elam, the five-star defensive tackle from Elizabethtown, Kentucky, announced today that he will be taking his official visit to Kentucky on December 14th. The big guy will announce his college choice on January 4th during the US Army All-American Game. Come be a hero, Matt! You'd look great in blue! -Tyler Ulis, 8th ranked point guard from the 2014 class, was in Lexington today for an unofficial campus visit. The 38th best player in the 2014 class according to ESPN just received an offer an offer from Calipari and Kentucky today. He has also attracted the attention of Iowa, Michigan State, and USC. -Angel Delgado verbally committed to Seton Hall tonight. The 6-foot-9, 215 pounder from Huntington, West Virginia, picked the Pirates over Dayton, Florida State, and Virginia. Delgado was once a potential target for Calipari and his staff, but he never received an offer.
