Terry Wilson followed up a breakout game vs. Florida with another impressive effort vs. Murray State. The sophomore quarterback was 19-25 for 163 yards passing, but it was his ability to scramble that had Mark Stoops raving in the postgame press conference.

“He obviously made some big plays again with his legs,” Stoops said. “He’s very dynamic when he pulls the ball down. I’ve been there. As a defensive coach, it’ll break your back. It’s frustrating. I’m glad he’s doing that for us.”

Same. Wilson was Kentucky’s leading rusher today with 80 yards and a touchdown, an incredible 42-yard run on the Cats’ first drive.

If not for some drops by Dorian Baker, Terry might have had a few more touchdowns. Stoops noted those mistakes, which must be fixed by next week’s game vs. Mississippi State.

“I know early on, there were a few assignments, that again, fall on the receivers. The little things that add up. I know a couple of those pop out at me, so it’s always difficult to put it on the quarterback’s shoulders all the time.”

Between Wilson, Gunnar Hoak, and Danny Clark, three Kentucky quarterbacks scored today. When was the last time we could say that? Stoops said he relished the opportunity to get Gunnar and Danny some reps.

“Normally we’d try to run out the clock there, but we wanted to get [Gunnar] some reps and some throws and he did a very good job. It’s good for Danny to get in there and get a few reps and get a touchdown.”

Indeed.
