How about a Championship Sunday for a spot in the Super Regionals? After losing two straight postseason games with zero combined runs in those losses — 8-0 vs. Georgia in the SEC Tournament and 4-0 vs. No. 3 seed Northwestern in the first round of the NCAA Tournament — Kentucky earned back-to-back wins on Saturday to keep on surviving and advancing.

It started with an 11-0 shutout vs. USC Upstate in the first elimination game to open the afternoon. That was a 16-hit, two-homer clinic the Wildcats were able to finish in six innings.

Kentucky followed that up with a dominant 8-3 victory over Northwestern in the second game of the day, cruising in both win-or-go-home opportunities. In this one, the Wildcats earned 10 hits with a home run by Ally Hutchins while limiting the opposing Wildcats to just five hits in the losing effort. Allie Blum had herself an evening, too, earning three hits on five at-bats with two RBI. Peyton Plotts also had a multi-hit day.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, UK responded with an unbelievable seven-run second inning to blow it open, followed by an additional run in the third to go up 8-1 and coast through to the final inning before giving up two non-threatening runs. The blue and white hit .333 on the day compared to just .192 for the purple and white, Sydney Langdon earning the win on the mound for Kentucky.

Now, the Wildcats take on Clemson on Sunday as they push for a Super Regional — a rematch after defeating the Tigers 7-6 in Clearwater back in February. The hope is to repeat that performance in the Regional Final against the host team and No. 11 national seed.

“There’s tons of energy there, we’re pumped and we’re excited to get another rematch with them — and hopefully make another dub,” Langdon said after the win.

First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday. With a win, UK would then need to take down the Tigers once again in an immediate rematch at 3:30 p.m. ET.

Time for a big-time Sunday, folks.
