Sweet Bowl Swag

by:Katie Martin01/08/10
wildcat-elvis Happy Birthday Elvis, from the BBN!   While Alabama bested Texas last night in the BCS Championship game, both teams really came out winners since the bowl organizers rewarded the players from both teams with some pretty awesome gift bags. Even the lesser bowls get in on the action, and its always a highlight of mine to go through the list of items since there are inevitably some pretty hilarious offerings. A few highlights of the bowl swag season (not a complete list): Allstate Sugar Bowl (Florida vs. Cinncinati): Lane recliner (maybe trying to help Charlie Weis' successor follow in his triple E large footsteps) Papajohns.com Bowl (Uconn vs. South Carolina): a football (really Papa, you couldn't spring for something a bit more out of the box?) Brut Sun Bowl (Oklahoma vs. Stanford): Brut hair dryer and coin (I've been introduced to a har dryer before, but I'm not exactly sure what "coin" means. Is it another one of those slang terms which I will neither understand nor properly use until its atleast 5 years old and hopelessly out of style? Probably.) Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl (Kentucky vs. Clemson): RCA HD camcorder, Fossil watch (did you really have to go and take a shot at Coach Brooks, Gaylord?), Majestic fleece pullover, New Era hat, Ogio Metro laptop pack. Meineke Car Care Bowl (Pitt vs. North Carolina): Commemorative Richard Petty Driving Experience photo (I'm not making this up). Sheraton Hawaii (SMU vs. Nevada): Kahala Aloha shirt Texas Bowl (Navy vs. Missouri): $300 Best Buy gift card (that'll buy you 1/3 of a pretty nice tv or the entire series of Thirtysomething box set) and a Belt Buckle (Engraved with "Everything is bigger in Texas") Capital One Bowl (Penn State vs. LSU): Party at Best Buy (suck it Texas bowl) Martin Christmas Bowl (Kate vs. Kate's Hubby):  An Apple Dipper, a "KSR" handmade Christmas ornament and Kentucky fleece hoodie (what can I say?  I'm loved)
