The Kentucky Wildcats remain in good shape with a high-level football prospect.

On Monday afternoon, three-star class of 2023 defensive lineman, Tavion Gadson, announced that he has decommitted from the Florida State Seminoles, where he was a pledge since mid-August. The 6-foot-5, 265-pound product out of Georgia was on Kentucky’s campus over the weekend for an official visit and has been trending toward the ‘Cats as of late. Multiple members of the UK coaching staff, including head coach Mark Stoops, paid Gadson an in-home visit earlier in the month, too.

“I would like to thank Coach Norvell, Coach Haggins, and Coach JP [John Papuchis] and the entire Florida State coaching staff for believing in me and wanting me to be a part of your program,” Gadson wrote on social media. “After prayer and talking things over with my family, I have decided to decommit from Florida State.”

According to the On3 Consensus, Gadson is considered the No. 680 overall high school senior and a top 75 defensive lineman in the country. He holds written offers from Auburn, Florida State, Kentucky, and Minnesota.

Gadson was initially slated to sign his National Letter of Intent during the early signing period, which officially begins on Wednesday, Dec. 21, but he delayed that decision until February roughly one week ago. A potential visit to Tennessee is on the table for January, as well.

That being said, Kentucky is the clear frontrunner at this stage in Gadson’s process. He’s received two prediction picks from On3 experts to ultimately land with the ‘Cats since Sunday while 247Sports has logged four picks in favor of UK during the same stretch. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine now has the Wildcats as the new leader at 81.9%.
