murray_jamal You know it. I know it. Anyone who watched the Pan Am games knows it. Jamal Murray is a beast. The 18-year-old surprised many when he took a leading a role on the silver-medal Canadian national team this July - a squad that includes several pros. The FIBA Americas Championship tips off later this month in Mexico City, and according to this article today, the Canadian team is trying really hard to keep him for the tournament:
However, with Kentucky's first semester scheduled to begin before the tournament opens, his availability remains uncertain. Triano, Steve Nash and Canada Basketball officials are in contact with famed Kentucky coach John Calipari and the NCAA daily, hoping to work something out that would allow Murray to participate in the qualifier.
With the NCAA season swiftly approaching, one would like Jamal to remain at Kentucky to build some rapport with this year's squad. However, added experience against professional talent couldn't hurt Murray's development, right? It definitely beats going to class.
