Kentucky quarterback Terry Wilson has made history.

Leading the Wildcats to a 34-7 victory over Tennessee at Neyland Stadium, Wilson becomes just the second quarterback in Kentucky football history with career wins at Tennessee and at Florida.

The only other? Derrick Ramsey, who won in Knoxville in 1976 and Gainesville in 1977.

“It’s huge. I think only Derrick Ramsey? That’s great company to be with in that category,” Wilson said after the game. “It’s pretty fun to be able to do some things that haven’t been done in recent years. That was one of the main things I wanted to do coming here, I wanted to go on the road and beat those teams that we haven’t beaten in a while. It’s an awesome feeling to be able to get this win today, it was a beautiful day out there.”

In today’s victory over the Volunteers, Wilson finished with 101 passing yards and one touchdown on 12/15 overall to go with 32 rushing yards on eight carries.

During Kentucky’s 27-16 victory over Florida in Gainesville back in 2018, Wilson managed 151 passing yards, two touchdowns and a pick on 11/16 passing to go with 105 rushing yards and a touchdown on ten carries.

“It’s special, it really is special. I know it means a lot to this state and to the University of Kentucky,” Wilson said. “I’m fortunate, I’m glad to be in this position. To be able to play SEC teams each week, go down there and battle. I’m just really fortunate, the team is fortunate that we get to go out there and prove ourselves each week.”

While Kentucky has talented backups in Joey Gatewood and Beau Allen at its disposal in case of emergency, UK head coach Mark Stoops stressed once again after the win that Wilson was the team’s starter and they have confidence in him moving forward.

“Listen, Terry is our starting quarterback,” Stoops said. “That’s how we went into it, period, the end. He’s our starting quarterback.”

With a 14-5 overall record as Kentucky’s starting quarterback, it’s hard to argue with the results.
