It's not everyday you witness a performance like the one Justin Thomas put on at Erin Hills yesterday. The 24 year old shot a 9-under 63, breaking Johnny Miller's 8-under record from 1973, and becoming just the fifth player to ever shoot a 63 at the U.S. Open.
Thomas actually hails from Kentucky. Born and raised in Strippervi... er, Louisville, Justin became a standout for perennial high school golf powerhouse St. Xavier before taking his talents to Tuscaloosa to play for Alabama, where he won a national title in 2013.
In an era of young stars on the PGA Tour, we may have seen a new one born with this putt:
Thomas currently sits at 11-under, 1 shot off the lead. He tees off at 3:54 this afternoon.
