The 2018 Kentucky Football Team's 5 Most Impressive Accomplishments

1. Nine Regular Season Wins. Since Bear Bryant roamed the sidelines, only the 1977 team won more regular season games than the 2018 Wildcats.  They are only the fourth team in school history to record nine regular season wins. 2. They Beat Good Teams. Kentucky didn't beat a bunch of scrubs to reach this monumental milestone.  The Cats defeated four teams with at least eight wins -- Florida, Miss. State, Missouri and Middle Tennessee -- and claimed victories over six bowl eligible teams, a first in program history. Second in the SEC East -- Before last year, Kentucky had never finished second in the SEC East.  They've now done it in consecutive seasons and this year they hold the tiebreaker with Florida.  The five SEC victories are the most in conference since 1977.  The senior class leaves campus with 13 SEC wins, tied for the most SEC wins in school history, and a few win streaks over SEC East opponents.

4. Presence in the Polls. After this week's conference championship games, Kentucky will make their 11th appearance in the AP Poll.  It will be the most in one year in school history. In the fifth year of the CFB Playoff Rankings, UK made their first appearance. Since then they've remained in the Top 25 each week. 5. Josh Allen -- The one-man wrecking crew will leave UK as the school's greatest pass rusher.  He now owns the single-season (14) and career sack records (28.5).  A future first round draft pick, Allen could become the first Kentucky Wildcat to ever win the Nagurski, Bednarik and Lott awards.

Benny Snell -- Snell has rewritten the UK rushing record book.  He needs 107 yards in the bowl game to break Sonny Collin's all-time rushing mark.  If he gets another touchdown, he'll move into a tie with Herschel Walker for second in SEC history in career touchdowns. Terrific Terry -- Despite the midseason criticism, Wilson has been incredibly efficient.  He completed 60 percent or more of his passes in 10-of-12 games.  Entering the bowl game, Wilson has completed 67.6 percent of his passes.  It's the second best completion percentage by a Kentucky quarterback in a single season (min. 200 att.), trailing only Tim Couch's 1998 season. Lynn Bowden -- With five more receptions, Lynn Bowden will have the most catches by a sophomore receiver in school history.  Derek Abney currently holds that title with 66 receptions in his sophomore year. 10 Wins -- In 103 years of football, only two Kentucky football teams have double-digit wins: the 1977 squad and Bear Bryant's 1950 Sugar Bowl Champions.  History is on the line this New Year's.
