There was a point where it almost felt like the entire trade could potentially fall through and crumble to pieces, but Anthony Davis is officially a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers sent out this press release on Saturday night, confirming that the deal had officially gone through.

The trade had to be delayed in order for the Lakers to make the money work with the rest of their freshly signed free agents. Part of the delay revolved around the potential addition of Kawhi Leonard before he chose the other team from L.A. – the Clippers. While all four teams involved in the Davis trade (Lakers, Pelicans, Wizards, and Hawks) were expected to fully cooperate to make sure the trade went through, the anxiety surrounding the deal was noticeable. Unfortunately, the wait didn’t pay off in the form of Kawhi Leonard, but the Lakers have done a solid job of building around Davis and LeBron James.

Just keep Lance Stephenson and Michael Beasley the hell away from this team.
