The Kentucky Sports Radio Old Time Music Hour

by:Matt Jones08/13/06
This past weekend, I was in a local watering hole in Lexington when I met a guy who came up to me and said, "hey I read your blog every day. Its great! But when are you going to do another radio show?" Normally when asked this question, I blush timidly and try to change the subject to how goofy Shagari Alleyne is, but this time I was able to say, "I am glad you asked. Sunday! It will be on Sunday!" And Sunday it was. If you look at the above picture, you could (if you wanted to,, but if you did I would think you were strange) close your eyes and envision what our taping today in Shelbyville, Kentucky was like. The good folks at Main Street Recording Studio set up for us just about the most amazing recording studio we could imagine, complete with microphones that worked, a telephone line that called out and sound that recorded.....all little extravagances that we have not been able to take for granted in the past. In fact, those of you that remember the fateful night where we taped "outside Rupp Arena" with a sound board that made Josh Minton beatboxing sound like two kids talking at each other through tin cans, know that the times they truly are a changin. The studio is truly state of the art and is , in addition to being much nicer than we deserve, a place that I would highly recommend. It was a great show and should be up here tomorrow night around 11. There is a great interview with Jai Lucas where he opens up more than I have heard him yet on why he is interested in Kentucky and what will make his final decision for him. Mike Ruth of The Card Report is on to preview the Louisville game. Rob Gidel joins us for a great recruiting roundup. And finally Gregg Doyel of CBS Sportsline absolutely shows his most outrageous self including making a "guess" at the end of the interview that is SURE to have the Kentucky faithful talking. Hope you enjoy it tomorrow night. We really love doing this radio show and since the blog has gained in popularity recently, we hope that you new readers will enjoy the show just as much.
