The KSR P.H.B. - Round One - Denny Crum vs. Mike Dunleavy, Jr.

@HunterCampbell

In an upset, at least in terms of the mostly arbitrary seeding I did for this tournament, Wojo took down Slick Rick to set up a second round slap-fight with his mentor and special friend, Coach K. Here’s your featured comment from yesterday, which sums up both sides of the Wojo/Pitino argument rather nicely:

from Arms of Delk Legs of McCarty:

Dear Rick, I hate how you took us to three Final Fours and then went to the NBA and later took a job at a nearby school. Except I don’t actually hate you, I just miss you terribly but don’t know how to say it.

Dear Wojo, s**k it.

(4) Denny Crum – (courtesy of tFGM) – For most of the Big Blue internet generation, Denny Crum was that pouty old guy that watched from the bench. Kentucky beat Crum’s Cardinals 9 out of the last 12 games of Crum’s historic career and Denny was 7-13 overall against the Wildcats. Before Crum, Louisville was the school that stole Unseld from the Wildcats. After Crum, Louisville has 7 Final Four appearances, two National Championships and busted Kentucky pride statewide in the Dream Game. Before the Dream Game, Crum spent significant time trying to drum up the hatred necessary for UK to schedule a regular-season game with the Cards. Denny told CBS some time before the Dream Game, “they won’t play,” and that it was “typical” that Joe B. avoided the question. If it wasn’t for Denny Crum, the line-bearded fanbase wouldn’t have anything to hang their flat-billed hats on. And that’s worth hatin’.

Very cosmopolitan.

Very cosmopolitan.

(5) Mike Dunleavy, Jr. – The choice to see who would represent the first Duke team that sent me running to the bathroom sick with ESPN-love overload was a tough one, as Jason “Don’t call me Jay…actually you know what, call me Jay” Williams could have easily filled this space. Ok, it wasn’t that tough. With a game as versatile as his coach’s arsenal of obscenities and face only a mother of a litter of puppies could love, Dunleavy only had one chance to play against the Wildcats and he and his band of fairy men delivered. The Dookies took us down 95-92 in 2001, in a game best remembered by Cat fans as Rashaad Carruth’s coming-out party. Dunleavy was an impeccable blend of A-game and A-hole, a sure recipe to garner the hatred of the Big Blue fanbase. The fact that he is one of the ugliest successful college players of the last 20 years doesn’t help his cause. But hey, the guy’s college career came to an end at the hands of a Mike Davis-coached team, in Rupp Arena, so cut him a little slack. Things are probably hard enough trying to deal with that, and knowing there are pictures of you like this floating aorund out there.

Now it’s up to you to decide which one of these suckers will move on to be crushed by Christian Laettner, and to see if the Blue Devils can sweep the Filthy Cards out of the tournament altogether. Comment in the comments and vote in the poll to the right.
