The New Woo

by:Matt Jones01/04/08
retretretrete People ask me all the time, "why do you like Woo so much?" Focusing on his on the court play, many cant understand how I could be such a big fan of a player who Patrick Patterson is already about to pass on the career scoring list. But for me it was never about that....I liked Woo because of how much he loved the University, his grit and effort....and yes, his crazy personality. Since he left, I have been searching for a new Woo....a new second-tier player to fully back and cheer on his successes. I think I have found it in Razor Ramon. I like the way he plays, I like his defensive intensity and I like how much he loves being at UK. As to the last point, these quotes from Larry Vaught's newest article asking the Razor about Kentucky showcase what I mean: However, Harris, also a sophomore, is fine with whatever role coach Billy Gillispie has for him and doesn't feel overlooked. "I have never really paid attention to it because it is all about Kentucky basketball, not me. I am happy. I am glad people pay attention to older players and freshmen like Patrick (Patterson). That's good for them and just takes pressure off me," said Harris. "I am still trying to work hard and trying to polish my skills to get better," Harris said. "All I can say is that I want to work hard for the fans of Kentucky and my teammates. I want to be the best player I can be. I can defend, rebound and knock down open shots. I still believe I can do that. "Whatever coach Gillispie wants, that's fine with me. I just want to help us win." Now tell me thats not a player to get behind.
