players   As KSR's golf writer, I feel it is my duty to let you all know when a big event is on the horizon. Well, there is one this week. There is no drinking game this time, but you can watch the action live at the 17th online and drink anytime a ball finds the water. 17th-hole Considered golf's 5th major championship, The Players Championship gets underway tomorrow morning at 7:15 EST in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL at TPC Sawgrass. Here are some story lines and tidbits from the days leading up to the tournament.   *Tiger Woods "had a couple" drinks Monday night in New York City while attending the MET gala with Lindsey Vonn. Deadspin expects us to care about this. Let's see how Tiger plays after he was photographed doing what you can find myself or Drew Franklin doing on some most days ending in "Y."   *Can Rory McIlroy make the cut? He's missed the last three. His excuses: "Three years ago I was in Vegas all week the week before. Two years it was my 21st birthday the week before. Last year I just played poorly." I have a question. What was he doing in Vegas a year before his 21st birthday? You don't think they let him gamble do you? A professional athlete wouldn't get preferential treatment would they? I sure hope not. Because Ryan Lemond will turn him in without thinking twice. Also, why do professional golfers get to have all the fun?   *Two of the "Golf Boys" are playing together. Drew's boy Rickie Fowler and Hunter Mahan, both former Oklahoma State Cowboys, tee off at 8:08 a.m. They are partly responsible for this. And this. Again, why do professional golfers get to have all the fun?   *Speaking of fun, check out what KSR's resident PGA professional Josh Teater wore on Tuesday to caddy for his wife Ashley in the PGA Tour Wives tournament (after the jump.) I could totally see Willie Cauley-Stein wearing those socks. And the wristbands, for that matter. teaterpink1 Teater tees off in the very first group off #1 tomorrow morning at 7:15 a.m. I expect to see some good putting out of him this week. He was spotted working with Steve Stricker on the putting green earlier in the week. Good luck, my friend! teater putting (photo by Matt Killen)   *Also of interest to KSR followers, #TeamIZOD is represented by Scott Piercy and Webb Simpson this week, though I assume most of you have forgotten about IZOD since Matt and Drew's trip to the Masters.   And lastly...   *Andrew Wiggins is yet to decide whether or not he will play in the event. Ba dum cha!   @AFlenerKSR
