The Vols May Need YOU to Coach

by:Matt Jones01/14/10
volfan Its not been a good week for the Vols. First everyone's favorite punky frat boy known as Lane Kiffin left East Tennessee to head to Southern California, making Tennessee fans mad even though they say they dont like him anyway. Then the Defensive Coordinator at Texas decided he would wait for Mack Brown to retire and head to pasture before coaching on old Rocky Top. Now today comes the biggest indignity of all as Tennessee was TURNED DOWN BY THE AIR FORCE COACH. Yes, you heard that right...the Air Force coach. And his name is Troy Calhoun...which sounds like a "Simpsons" character and not a coach at a major program. So it looks like Colorado Springs is better to Mr. Calhoun than Knoxville as well. Now they are apparently looking in the direction of David Cutcliffe at Duke. You might remember that he was the Offensive Coordinator at Tennessee under Phil Fulmer. What does that mean? Well it means they fired the head coach to essentially get his Offensive Coordinator two years later. So while there may not be any smogy smoke on Rocky Top, but apparently it has lost its status as being a destination location. UT a stepping stone school? It is starting to look that way.....
