These Games are Depressing

by:Matt Jones04/03/10
eew While there is a part of me that is enjoying the first Saturday with nothing to do in eight months, I must admit that I find this Final Four quite depressing. Watching Butler-Michigan State, I cant help but become frustrated. Kentucky is substantially better than both teams and watching them play Big Ten, "punch your opponent in the face after throwing up a brick 30 seconds into the shot clock" basketball for an entire half, I am officially bummed. I had the same feeling in 2003 as we marched to a Syracuse-Kansas finale in which you just knew that Kentucky was a more worthy champion than either team. Here we have one of these two teams who will play for a national title, when I think it isnt clear that any player besides Gordon Hayward would start for Kentucky. Its tough to watch. Plus, I get the sinking feeling we are headed for a Duke title. They are not the best team in the Tournament and I would even argue they arent the best team left in the Final Four. But they have that annoying Duke mojo and it just feels like we are headed to one of those moments that leads the national media to tell us how Coach K is the greatest coach in the history of the game. It hurts me to even think about it. I have a West Virginia shirt on and will be pulling hard for Huggins, but Duke's nature, combined with Curtis Shaw refereeing, has me worried. Ok back to the game. I have to write a recap of this Butler-Sparty game and only with shot of caffeine is it even possible for me to stay awake...
