Time to Douse the Flames

volleyball-action-team7-large.jpeg Tonight the Cats return to basketball action and I would be lying if I didnt tell you that I am a bit nervous. The Liberty Flames (volleyball team seen above) are coming into Rupp after the Cats have had a two-week break to lick their wounds and try and get back on track. This is of course, a must-win game but it is also a game that is important in showcasing how this group returns from adversity. Really tonight only a few players are available: Bradley, Crawford, Porter, Legion, Patterson, Stewart, Stevenson, Williams and Coury are really the group that will have to lead Kentucky to success over the next few weeks. And amazingly enough, that is a group that is actually more front-court heavy than back-court loaded, at least by quantity. Tonight we see what that group can do.....and at times it wont be pretty. Liberty comes to town tonight ready to inflict their Falwell-inspired rage on the Cats and attempt to become the Gardner-Webb for the next generation. They run a patient offense, however one that relies more on athleticism than outside shooting. Many of the players have seen UK before and thus are unlikely to be in awe of the atmosphere. I expect a loud crowd at Rupp tonight, in part because of the long drought since basketball has been played in the state. What do you see? I say Cats by 22 in a game that is comfortable throughout but never a laugher (I dont know that we will see many, if any, of those this year). Give me your score, your leading scorer and your favorite Liberty Flames memory (true or not).......
