Today On KSR: Back to work after a fun weekend

Last Monday, I sat right here in this same chair and wrote a pep talk to get you inspired for the week ahead. It was Kentucky Sports Radio dot com's version of a Motivational Monday, and many of you wrote me to say it gave you a jolt of energy to be productive. But this Monday, I'm going to do the opposite. This Monday sucks. It's the most Monday of all Mondays, in part because it's cold and half the people in Kentucky are sick, including myself, but also because Saturday was so much fun and it's time to move on from it. Saturday was insane for Big Blue Nation. It began with the lovable awkwardness of College GameDay and then ended with our beloved Wildcats kicking Kansas' tail up and down the court (in the second half) in a rowdy Rupp Arena. If you weren't there, I'm sorry you missed out because it was "lit," as the kids say. But I'm sure all of you had a grand ol' time, wherever you watched the game. UK looked so good in its defeat of our nation's ninth-ranked team, the Cats' third straight victory over a ranked enemy. What a time. But now we're back to the real world and my coffee tastes like burnt ass and the week's to-do list is staring us in our faces. I just want Saturday back. I know you do. Unfortunately, it's only moving farther away. Here's what's ahead, plus a new TV show recommendation...   Kenny Payne will preview Vanderbilt. John Calipari will tag in his trusty assistant, Kenny Payne, to take all of the questions at today's pre-Vanderbilt press conference. Payne is scheduled to appear at 11 am, along with two of his players, to talk about tomorrow night's game and all of the fun from Saturday's win over Kansas. What will happen in the new rankings? Eighth-ranked Kentucky should move up the polls this week after two wins over Top 25 teams; however, it remains to be seen how high the Cats will climb. Of the seven teams ranked ahead of Kentucky, only Michigan State dropped a game, but will the Spartans' loss at Purdue be enough? One-loss Nevada sits at No. 7, but it just won a game by 40 points so it'll be hard to leapfrog.

1. Tennessee (18-1) 2. Duke (17-2) 3. Virginia (18-1) 4. Gonzaga (19-2) 5. Michigan (19-1) 6. Michigan State (18-3) 7. Nevada (19-1) 8. Kentucky (16-3)

Best case scenario: Kentucky is ranked sixth. Worst case scenario: Kentucky stays up at No. 8. For what it's worth, CBSSports.com ranked Kentucky seventh, ahead of Nevada and behind Michigan State. The UK women dropped a close game yesterday. Matthew Mitchell's team almost pulled off a huge road win yesterday at Texas A&M, but fell two points shy against the 24th-ranked Aggies. Maci Morris got back to her scoring ways with a team-high 22 points, one more than Rhyne Howard's 21, after they were each held to season-lows against Missouri. They will get a chance to bounce back this coming Thursday with No. 19 South Carolina coming to Lexington. It's a big one. (If anyone can has good seats available for that one, I would love to take them off your hands. Call me.) The Anthony Davis news is big. NBA Twitter is abuzz about Anthony Davis' agent, Rich Paul, telling New Orleans that Davis wants out. You can read all about it right here. In the meantime, I'll ask you: Would you rather see the former Wildcat join LeBron in Los Angeles or Kyrie in Boston?

The Marvelous Mrs. Maizel is kind of awesome. I'm on this money-saving kick after dropping a small fortune on new furniture, so I spent a lot of my weekend indoors watching television... and I gotta tell ya... The Marvelous Mrs. Maizel on Amazon is pretty awesome. I know I'm not breaking news here because the show already has a bunch of Golden Globes and Emmys, but I never knew anything about it and didn't think it looked like something I should pursue until I got desperate for something new Friday night. Now I'm hooked and slightly mad at the world for not doing a better job of selling it to me sooner. I highly recommend it to everyone. And if you don't trust me on it, watch the new Ted Bundy short series on Netflix.   That's all I have for now. Come back for more soon. BTI is going to drop some knowledge about UK's upcoming road game at 10 a.m.
