Today on KSR: Cats are 5-0

I never thought I would type the following sentence. The Kentucky Football team is 5-0. I mean wow. Kentucky is 5-0... not in basketball, but in football. I really can't say it to myself enough. Kroger Field had another electric atmosphere and the Cats turned in a huge second quarter to win yet another game by double digits. The one glaring weakness on the team is the kicking position, but when you win games by as much as the Cats are kicking doesn't really even matter. Most of you were probably up into the wee hours of the morning celebrating another big win, but even if you weren't, here are some of the big storylines to begin today.

Kentucky's Defense is Elite

I wrote a post a few weeks ago and said that this defense is elite and a few people commented disagreeing. Is there any argument against it now? Jake Bentley is a good quarterback and the defense forced him into mistakes all night long. We've said it once and we will say it again. Josh Allen is an absolute beast. In Mark Stoops' postgame conversation with Tom Leach, he said that it seemed like Allen had a quiet game, but when he looked at the stat sheet it was all but quiet. The defensive star had 3 sacks and a forced fumble. Allen is a special player who is going to have a long future ahead of him in the NFL. Personally, I think he'd look good in orange and black.

Kash Daniel will be suspended for the First Half of the Texas A&M game

I could use this time to sit here and complain about the targeting rule and how it is completely changing the game, but you have already heard the argument. I am not a huge fan of the call resulting in an ejection regardless of it being my team or not. I just think we need to find a way to develop a true balance on what is an ejectable hit and what isn't. Not having Kash for the first half in College Station is huge. He brings a lot of energy to that defense and it is no secret the leadership qualities he has as well. The Cats will be forced to turn to Chris Oats and Jamin Davis, both freshman, to replace Daniel in the middle of the defense. If you haven't seen Kash's exit after learning he was ejected, you definitely need to watch that: https://twitter.com/MrsTylerKSR/status/1046219612361297921?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1046219612361297921&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fkentuckysportsradio.com%2F

Big Recruiting Weekend for the Cats

This was a big recruiting weekend for Mark Stoops and the Kentucky program as they had multiple top level recruits on campus with most being from the state. Wandale Robinson was one of the bigger names as he was making another unofficial visit for the game. Scoop Lemond dropped a big hint that the star from Frankfort will eventually end up in Blue and White. If you watched that game and were a part of that atmosphere, why wouldn't you want to be?! Other big time Kentucky recruits included Butler's TaeTae Crumes and Bowling Green's Vito Tisdale. There were plenty of other big names in attendance as well. Top 25 Results

It was a busy day in the Top 25 with a few matchups between ranked teams. Here are the complete results from those games: Only thing I really see with this is that only two teams ranked ahead of Kentucky lost and both were to Top 10 teams, so it is hard to see the Cats jumping too far in the rankings. With that being said, I admittedly didn't see them being ranked as high at #17 going into this week, so you never know what might happen.

NFL Sunday Schedule

Week Four of the NFL season continues today with a few good games. My Bengals travel to Atlanta to face the Falcons. Drew's Titans welcome in the defending Super Bowl Champion Eagles and Matt's Bears welcome in #FitzMagic. Well, that wraps up your KSR preview for today. If you are watching the NFL, enjoy the games. If not, I hope you have a relaxing Sunday with perfect weather predicted for the Commonwealth.
