Today on KSR: Cats look to finish Big Blue Bahamas Tour 4-0

by:Connor Link08/12/18
Despite head coach John Calipari's attempt to temper expectations by telling fans he "hoped" his team could go 1-3 as it headed into this summer's Big Blue Bahamas Tour, the Kentucky Wildcats enter Sunday on the verge of finishing the four-game exhibition bout unblemished. Here is everything you need to know as Kentucky wraps up its first foreign tour since the 2014-15 Cats provided a preview of what would prove to be a historic season four years ago:

Football holds first intrasquad scrimmage

Mark Stoops' Kentucky football team kicked off Saturday with its first intrasquad scrimmage of the summer, but the head coach was rather less than pleased by the results.   “Not good enough today," Stoops said. "Not a good enough scrimmage. I was really disappointed, to be honest with you. I felt like it was a bit flat. I expected a lot more out of these guys across the board.”   All-Southeastern Conference running back Benny Snell Jr. was was held on the sidelines with a minor calf injury.

Kentucky cruises past Mega Bemax, 100-64

Six players scored in double-figures as Kentucky blew past Serbian professional club Mega Bemax by a score of 100-64 on Saturday evening in Nassau. PJ Washington led all scorers with 20, while freshmen Keldon Johnson and Tyler Herro poured in 16 apiece. Starting center Nick Richards finished with 15 points, Immanuel Quickley tabbed 12, and Quade Green scored 10.

PJ Washington was unstoppable

Washington, a 6-foot-7 sophomore, broke out with 12 rebounds, four blocks, four steals, and two assists to go along with his game-high 20 points in Saturday's win. The Dallas native shot 6-of-10 (.600) from the field, sinking his only attempt from three-point range. Washington showed off his freshly honed explosiveness with a poster dunk in the second half:   https://twitter.com/KentuckyMBB/status/1028487873908105216

Keldon Johnson's dunk lands on SportsCenter Top 10

Johnson introduced himself to the rest of the college basketball world with a monster slam of his own, landing him on the Saturday rendition of SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays. The alley-oop from Green came in at No. 9 as the clock struck midnight.   https://twitter.com/SECNetwork/status/1028439355537465344
