Today on KSR: Cats snap losing streak behind Jackson's double-double
As the old saying goes, ‘streaks are meant to be broken.’ Yesterday, Auburn came to Lexington looking to pick up their first win at Rupp Arena in over 30 years, while the Kentucky Wildcats were hoping to snap a four-game losing streak. Something had to give.
Freshman Isaiah Jackson put together his best game as a Cat with 18 points and 11 rebounds as they survived a late comeback by Auburn to secure the win, 82-80.
In a season where wins have been about as common as snowfalls, fans have learned to appreciate each and every one that happens. Now onto the news you need to know to start your day:
Cats put together multiple highlight real plays
En route to the big win over Auburn, Kentucky made numerous highlight-reel plays including multiple big dunks.
The first sparked the scoring for the blue and white when Jackson got a rebound and proceeded to put down a one-handed slam. I am still not even sure he jumped.

Later, with Auburn starting to make a comeback, Davion Mintz attempted to silence the Tigers with a beautiful transition jam.

Auburn brought the game within two and immediately flashback mode set in before the dunking continued.

Ashton Hagans released by Timberwolves
In more disappointing news, former Kentucky guard Ashton Hagans was waived by the Minnesota Timberwolves after violating the NBA’s COVID-19 protocols.
Hagans was playing for Minnesota’s G-League team in the ‘bubble’ in Orlando. Five of his teammates were also suspended with the former Cat being waived as a result.
Volleyball sweeps Georgia
Arguably the best team on campus picked up their 11th straight win on Saturday in a 3-0 sweep over Georgia. The volleyball team turned double-digit kills from Ahzani Tealer into a dominating performance.
The Cats will face the Bulldogs again this afternoon at 3 pm.

Softball continues hot start to season
Renee Abernathy had three hits and knocked in four runs to help lead the #13 Kentucky softball team to a 12-9 victory over Samford.
The win over the Lady Bulldogs completed the weekend sweep for the Cats and marked the first time in program history that the team swept their first series of the season in back-to-back years.
Kentucky will be back in action on Thursday and Friday against UNC Greensboro before competing in Campbell University’s tournament over the weekend.

Snow is coming… again
The entire commonwealth enters today on a Winter Weather Advisory with another storm on the way. Different projections have areas getting upwards of 12-14 inches of snow.
Obviously, we are the furthest thing from meteorologists, but just be safe.
Happy Valentine’s Day
How about this little throwback from the KSR vault. Hope everyone has a safe and happy Valentine’s Day. Go Cats!
