Today on KSR: Hello August

by:Ty Schadt08/01/21

Good Sunday morning, BBN! It’s officially August, and that means we’re one month closer to football season. It’s been a busy week in the wide world of sports… let’s catch you up on some news from the weekend.

Cats in the Olympics

This morning has been a busy one for the Cats in Tokyo. Keni Harrison (USA), Jasmine Camacho-Quinn (Puerto Rico), and Devynne Charlton (Bahamas) all qualified for tonight’s finals of the women’s 100m hurdles, with Camacho-Quinn setting a new Olympic record. UK med student Gerek Meinhardt and Team USA also won bronze in the men’s team foil. Here are some other Wildcats to look for as you enjoy the Olympic action today.

KSR joins On3

Earlier this week, On3 announced it has added the popular digital media company, Kentucky Sports Radio (KSR) as its first fansite. It’s an exciting move which will allow us to strengthen our coverage of UK sports and also maintain the style you all have come to know and love.

Kash Daniel to join KSR UK Football Pregame Show

This football season has the means to be a memorable one for UK, and the KSR pregame show is out to match that enthusiasm. This season, Matt and the guys will be joined by another voice — none other than KY native and fan-favorite Kash Daniel.

Daniel is a natural entertainer. Need I remind you of this clip from his senior year of high school:

Re-live Isaiah Jackson’s draft night

Re-live the day Isaiah Jackson’s dreams came true in this short feature, which includes insight into his outfit as well as his initial thoughts on joining the Indiana Pacers.

Jackson was the only Wildcat drafted in the first round earlier this week, but that doesn’t mean UK still didn’t set the standard for players drafted over the past two years.

Keaton Upshaw provides injury update

Nearly two weeks after suffering a preseason injury that will sideline him indefinitely, the junior tight end shared an update on social media.

Just a week ago, Upshaw tweeted that his surgery was a success.

It’s an encouraging mindset for a player who was in line for a great 2021 season under Liam Coen. Should he return at some point this season, the new offense coordinator would be very happy.

Get well soon, Keaton.

Wan’Dale Robinson named to Paul Hornung watch list

For the third straight season, the former Western Hills standout has been named to the Paul Hornung Watch List, an honor that is given to the most versatile player in college football. He was a finalist for the award in 2019 as a freshman at Nebraska, but has since transferred back home to the Bluegrass, where he wasted no time turning heads.

Joey Votto comes inches away from MLB history

The Reds’ future Hall of Fame first baseman was chasing MLB history last night after homering in seven straight games, and he came oh so close.

It’s a whole different story if Votto hits that a foot to the right or the left.

Votto ends his insane streak with nine homers, 15 RBI and 10 runs scored… nothing to sneeze at there. Take a bow, Joey.

That’s all we’ve got for you on this Sunday morning. Have a great one, BBN!
