Another work week down, and for many of you, you now get to look forward to a three-day weekend to celebrate Memorial Day. Memorial Day is a federal holiday dedicated to honoring and mourning those who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. This weekend also marks the unofficial start of summer. Public pools may not be open yet, but that doesn't mean you can't get on a boat and enjoy the water or enjoy your own backyard pool if you have one. If not, heat up that grill and enjoy some quality family time with your loved ones. As we honor those who have given their lives for the country and celebrate the unofficial start to summer, let's check in on what's happening around the state and in the world of sports.

Restaurants open up today

Not feeling an afternoon by the grill? Have a night out at your favorite restaurant. For the first time, Kentucky restaurants are allowed to reopen their dining rooms at a limited capacity. Starting today, restaurants are set to lead phase two of the reopening of the state, with dining rooms now set to open at 33% capacity, along with unlimited outdoor seating with proper social distancing in place. Speaking of restaurants, KSBar and Grille is set to host indoor and outdoor guests starting today, with expanded seating available for guests wishing to eat and drink outside. The restaurant will be spacing tables six feet apart inside and out, along with implementing a new three-part cleaning process to sanitize tables in between customers. Still not ready to venture out? Brandon Huntley-Hatfield takes virtual visit with Kentucky

Kentucky hosted one of the top prospects in high school basketball on a virtual visit on Thursday evening. Brandon Huntley-Hatfield - a top-five prospect in the class of 2022 - participated in the virtual visit with the Kentucky coaching staff last night, his mother, Antoinette Huntley, told KSR. "It was nice! Will do another one in a few weeks," she told KSR. Huntley-Hatfield, a 6-foot-9, 210-pound forward out of IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL, is considered the No. 4 overall prospect and No. 1 power forward in the 2022 247Sports Composite Rankings. The five-star prospect is also seen as a serious reclassification candidate, with most believing he will ultimately opt to reclassify back to his original 2021 class in the future. When it comes time for a decision, Kentucky is seen as the heavy favorite, with UK picking up two FutureCasts for the five-star forward on Rivals.com and three Crystal Ball picks on 247Sports.com. Originally from Clarksville, TN, Huntley-Hatfield is the cousin of former UK forward Alex Poythress. KSR will have a full breakdown of the virtual visit later today.

Jonathan Kuminga is dropping his top five

While Kentucky is laying the groundwork for one of the top prospects in the class of 2022, they will also find out if they remain in contention for arguably the No. 1 prospect in all of high school basketball today. This afternoon, 2021 five-star forward and No. 1 overall prospect Jonathan Kuminga is set to cut his list down to five, his first cut since trimming his list to ten back in November. Auburn, Duke, Florida State, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Memphis, Michigan, Texas Tech, and Washington are the current schools remaining in contention. The expectation is that Kuminga will ultimately decide to reclassify to the class of 2020, though the destination is currently up in the air. At various points, Texas Tech, LSU, Duke, Georgia, and Kentucky have all been seen as the favorite to land the five-star prospect. Should he jump up to 2020, the general consensus is that Kentucky would not be the likely destination, though the UK staff is still working to add one final piece to the 2020-21 roster. Could they swing for the fences and make a late effort to land the No. 1 prospect in the nation? We'll see if UK takes a step toward that by making the final list today.

Calipari and Huggins catch up with CBS Sports

It’s no secret John Calipari and Bob Huggins have been close friends on and off the court for several decades, and yesterday, they discussed that friendship on CBS Sports Connected.  In an interview between Huggins and CBS Sports' Tracy Wolfson, Calipari surprised Huggins by jumping on their Zoom call, where the coaches reminisced about their on-court battles and friendship off the floor. Among the stories? Calipari having to beg Huggins to have dinner with him after his first victory over the now-West Virginia coach, along with Huggins having a heart attack and being told in an ambulance by Calipari's cousin that he couldn't die until Coach Cal beat him on the basketball court. NBA working toward July return

Who's ready for some basketball? According to two new reports from Shams Charania of The Athletic and ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the NBA is actively working toward a return to play at some point in July, with Orlando's Walt Disney World being seen as the overwhelming favorite to host the games. “The NBA is in serious discussions with Disney about the property, which has gained clear momentum over cities such as Las Vegas,” Charania reported. “It remains unclear when the games would begin, but multiple sources say the prospect of players fully training in mid-June and playing by mid-July has been the most popular and possible scenario discussed. NBA commissioner Adam Silver told the Board of Governors on May 12 that he aims to decide on the season in two-to-four weeks, and that he wants to wait as long as he can to make final decisions."
